The table shows averages for 2015–2024 from the ERA5 reanalysis (Copernicus/ECMWF), with sea temperatures from Open-Meteo Marine for 2022–2025. These are model averages for the area, not readings from a weather station, so treat them as a guide to what is typical rather than as records. Sunshine is given as average hours per day. Didim Municipality, for its part, says the town gets sunshine on roughly 260–300 days a year and that humidity is very low.
Which season suits you?
- Beach and swimming: June to September, with the warmest sea in August.
- Ancient sites and walking: April, May and October, when the ruins are pleasant to explore in the middle of the day.
- Swimming without the peak heat: September and early October, when the sea is still warm and the air has eased.
- A quiet winter break: December to February, for mild days, but expect rain and many seasonal businesses closed.

Plan for a quieter town. According to Didim Municipality, tourism businesses in Altınkum are open for about 8–9 months of the year, so many seaside restaurants and bars close in the depths of winter.

Checking the forecast before you go
Averages tell you what is typical; they won't tell you whether it will rain on the day of your boat trip. For the next seven days, see our Didim weather forecast page, which is updated with the live forecast.
The weather also affects how you get around. On a hot July afternoon or a wet January evening, the 4.1 km between Altınkum and the town centre is a long walk, and the Altınkum taxi page explains how to call a ride and share your location. Munzur Taxi works 24/7, whatever the season.
